Friday June 20th we headed out to walk another section of the Glacial Lakes Trail. There were so many dragonflies it was like we were being bombarded by tiny little helicopters. The one insect that was remarkably missing was the dreaded mosquito. Thanks to all the dragonflies we didn't see even one of those pesty insects. Along the trail we saw Dot-tailed Whiteface Dragonflies both male and female, White Admiral Butterflies, Female Common Whitetail Dragonflies, Twelve-spotted Skimmer Dragonflies both male and female, American White Pelicans, Chalk-fronted Corporal Dragonflies, Summer Azure Butterflies, Male Common Yellowthroat Warbler, European Skipper Butterfly, Painted Lady Butterfly, a Thread-waisted wasp, Long Dash Butterflies, Widow Skimmer Dragonflies, Wild Turkeys, Song Sparrow, damselflies (species unknown at this time), Chipping Sparrow, Common Blue Damselfly, Female Indigo Bunting, Orange Damselfly, and a Blister Beetle sitting in a Prairie Rose.  At the parking spot there was a boat landing where we saw a Catbird, male and female Baltimore Orioles feeding babies in their nests.  On the way home we spotted a Eastern Kingbird, some Painted Turtles, and a Garter Snake who tried to have a go at me when I was attempting to chase it off the road.

It was a great day for hiking.

Catch ya later!
