Yesterday we drove to Watertown and hiked along the Luce Line state hiking trail.  We are currently in the process of hiking and biking the entire length of the trail.

We brought along the camera, and its a good thing we did.  We saw a short tailed weasel, and I was even able to photograph it for proper identification.  The first time we saw it, it stood up and stared right at us.  Then of course it ran off (I think Zoey scared it off).  Before long it was back.  This time I was ready, and able to photograph it.  It had something in its mouth, unfortunately, I can't tell exactly what it is, however we believe it was transporting its babies to a new nest site. That was a first for us.

Then later on the way back, Aaron found the mother load of white morel mushrooms.  He said he has never found so many in one area before. We also saw a female Hooded Merganser with 14 babies.  It was the first time we saw baby Hooded Mergansers before.

The weather was perfect once again. All in all a good time was had.
