Yesterday we drove to Watertown (approximately 30 minute drive) to pick up our next trail on the Luce Line. When we got there it was foggy, damp, and extremely buggy.  That's the last time I listen to the weatherman. So we went back home without hiking at all. Later in the afternoon, it finally cleared out and dried up, so we packed up once again and returned to the same location again.  This time we were able to get in the 4 mile hike.

During our hike, we were busy trying to identify an oriole that was a bit unusual looking when all of a sudden, there was either a coyote or a fox ahead of us on the trail.  Unfortunately, it was too far ahead of us for a proper identification. I turned around just in time for a quick glance before it dashed across the trail and out of site. Oh, so close.

Later on we came upon a muskrat that was casually swimming in the lake beside us.  It came out of the water and was munching on vegetation right within view. What a treat. All in all it was a good day.
